Players, Coaches, and Parents, of Spreckels Park Little League,
It is with extreme regret to announce that Little League International has postponed all Little League activities once again, until May 11th, 2020. I am sure this decision did not come easy to Little League International’s Board of Directors, however, it is definitely a plus that they are taking the necessary measures to protect the millions of players, worldwide. It is our sincere hope that we can find ways to bring everyone back to the fields this season, whether that’s later this spring or throughout the summer.
I will meet with our SPLL Board of Directors as well, to figure out things such as pictures, fundraisers, and schedules. I will tell you that it is extremely difficult though, given the uncertain circumstances. In the worst case scenario that we are not able to continue this season, we will also discuss the difficult topic of refunds, since I know the question has been raised. Please keep in mind, that we have already purchased insurance, equipment, uniforms, paid field maintenance costs and snack bar costs for the season. It would be almost impossible to give refunds, without leaving the league in financial distress and possibly not being able to have a season next year. Rest assured that we will look at ALL possibilities to somehow figure something out, in the event that we cannot continue.
I know that everyone is missing being on the baseball field, myself included, but please keep hope that we will return! Please stay positive in these times as we navigate this unfortunate pandemic.
